A Fun Fact on Tedder: Michael Jackson turned down an opportunity to work in medical research at Harvard and instead did a stint with NASA. - and now Tedder."

American born Dr Michael Jackson first came to Australia in 1992 as he was required to undertake a year of study overseas to complete his Science degree, and he chose the University of Queensland in Brisbane because he wanted to be somewhere warm! Later, Michael returned to Australia to undertake a Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology where he studied STD’s in koalas. Optometry studies were his next calling, and he achieved a Bachelor of Optometry from the Queensland University of Technology. After graduating, Michael worked in Perth for several years before returning to the east coast to create his own brand of signature independent optical practices, leading to the establishment of Sanctuary Cove Optical in 2014.

"Cholangio the Beast" I have a message for you"

Steve Holmes
An Unbelievable Story
“It all happened in the briefest of moments, you busted through my front door in the dark of night, you wrestled me to the ground, repeatedly raping me to within seconds of my last breath, ‘Cholangio’ you left me for dead, cold and beaten, but I did not die, I still breath.
Cholangio you took so much from me, yet you left something truely powerful behind.
As I struggled for my survival I found something deep within that you could not reach, my “Unconditional Willingness” – you and your cancer could not comprehend such an intangible force, it was beyond your sight and beyond your reach. Cholangio you pushed me to my edge – Yet I didn’t go over. From that edge I could see so much more than I had ever seen from the crowed centre. You have changed me for the better, I see through the looking glass. Thank you Cholangio you have stimulated my being, I will forever be aware of my opportunity called life” Its a hard to believe story, even I have trouble

Ted Dolby Place
There is a Park in Tedder Av in between Mountbatten and Montgomery Avenues. (as an aside both NAMES were very well respected Generals I have included their BIOs) called Ted Dolby Place where there is a small plaque near the seat. This should give you lots of info to choose from depending on space. The naming of both Aves’ is an interesting piece, as all the streets are named after someone of note in the Main Beach area! Another story another day perhaps but of interest!!
Also by Monuments Australia
The plaque in honour of Ted Dolby. Mr. Dolby who has been a resident of Main Beach since 1960, as a member of the Main Beach Progress Association and for some years as President. He played a major part in the balanced development of the area. He was an advocate for height restrictions and limitation of development on The Spit, poluttion control of the Broadwater, park protection from development and traffic improvements. He liased closely with Council and State Government authorities for the betterment of community and environmental facilities in the Main Beach area." Find Ted Dolby Place on the link below,

Main Beach Progress Association moving forward for Progress
|
|
Georgie Brown
Main Beach Progress Association
The Main Beach Progress Association is currently working to develop an overall strategic plan for Main Beach. To date, lots of projects have been a bit piecemeal. Georgie Brown, Secretary of the Main Beach Progress Association says “ There are strategic plans being developed for Southport, with more and more major activities planned for Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach through the various alliances in place. The MBPA believes that Main Beach is a separate and unique identity and should be considered as such in the name of individual experiences, tourism and retail. But we are being left behind in the rush. To grow Main Beach we have to think outside the ‘Westfield Shopping Centre' box and be different. We have everything going for us, the Broadwater, the Beach, the Spit and Macintosh Park. We have it all, it is time everyone woke up and started to think creatively and positively. The Main Beach Progress Association is a not-for-profit organisation run by enthusiastic locals. The Association is attempting to raise up to $10,000 to organise a professional presentation for the various bureaucracies so they are aware of our goals. For further information contact the MBPA on admin@mbpa.org.au

Bring your biggest Smile
Hide the grimace and share a 'Post Run' Coffee @ Hard Coffee Tedder to massage out your conquests or ego? Hard Coffee is a very popular Alfresco redemption for your Caffeine hit.
Parkrun is a great way of meeting all your fellow Villagers and you don't even have to run - how good is that?
Run/ Jog / Walk around a really magnificent 5 km track that the "Friends of Federation Walk" have been toiling away over years, to give us all such a great natural experience - You will probably experience a lot of the local wild life as you get your bod around the track
Ps there are plenty of shortcuts! I know I have used them many many times!
