Hop Around the Waterways of the Gold Coast

HOPO – Hop On Hop Off Ferry

Hop On Hop Off Ferry – The City of Gold Coast, together with local business Ferry I, are proud to launch the city's first public ferry service called Hopo.

From 8 December 2019, residents and visitors will be able to get around the city via our beautiful waterways on the Hopo ferries.

The two-year Hopo ferry trial will link key destinations with initial ferry stops at:

  • Sea World at Main Beach
  • Broadwater Parklands at Southport
  • Marina Mirage at Main Beach
  • Home of the Arts (HOTA) at Surfers Paradise
  • Appel Park at Surfers Paradise

A New Attraction for Main Beach

Residents and visitors alike are going to love the new ferry which has just begun a two year trial.

Main Beach people are especially lucky as there are two ferry stops close by—one at Marina Mirage, and one at Seaworld.

Local resident John Gilder used the ferry to show off the delights of our wonderful waterway to a visitor—and they both loved the experience.

Being seniors, they agreed that the trip was great value—their one and a half hour round trip cost only $13 per person.

They got on the ferry at Marina Mirage and from there travelled to Broadwater Parklands, Seaworld, HOTA, Surfers Paradise—then back to Marina Mirage.

John said, "The trip gave a great variety of views, was extremely comfortable and a perfect way to show off our city. The friendly crew told us that on the previous trip passengers were thrilled to see a large pod of dolphins. I can't wait for our grandkids to arrive for the holidays—they will love this experience"
