A large attendance is expected at the Council’s ‘Vision’ for Main Beach event on Tuesday 27 July at the Southport Yacht Club.
We have been thrilled with the response to this important meeting, and now it has been publicised by Tom Forbes from ABC Gold Coast radio in his Thursday morning interview with Sue Donovan. Although the Compass room normally holds 400, this may be limited to 190 if Covid restrictions are still in place. To be sure of being admitted, email your RSVP as soon as possible to admin@mainbeachassoc.org.
Tom Forbes has followed up the interview with a piece on the ABC News website.

The MBA is delighted to be taking part in stakeholder consultation on future projects related to the Spit Master Plan, particularly the future of Bum’s Bay (the Marine Stadium) and interpretative signage that tells the important stories about the Spit.

In some ‘not so good news this week we learned of a proposal for Heli skydives to be permitted on the beach near Philip Park on The Spit. If you have concerns about the safety and noise pollution aspects of this proposal, please make your views known to Councillor Darren Taylor—and any other councilors you know. The council is due to vote on this proposal on Tuesday 13 July. Contact Darren at division10@goldcoast.qld.gov.au.

Finally, thanks to all of the generous donors to our membership campaign for the new financial year.
