☑️ The Future Main Beach is exciting
Hi, my name is Ian and this is just my short bio to say hi, and also share my thoughts on the wonderful Village of Main Beach.
I am an enthusiastic Main Beach Villager, having taken up residence here some twelve years ago. I am also a regular bicycle rider in the early hours, some reference riders as myself as MAMIL “Mature aged man in Lycra”.
I have achieved somewhat of a milestone recently on my current bike having just clocked up 50,000 km just prior to my 79th Birthday, I normally ride 40 km a day five mornings a week and ride the Brisbane-Gold Coast 100 km ride each year along with 7,000 others, this is not a race and all age groups participate with the finish line in the wonderful Broad Water Parklands, Southport.
I would encourage anyone into exercise regardless of what form to consider a Fit Bit and/or as I have a bike computer, this really as in my case allows you to set your goals and in my case a great means of motivation to ensure I achieve and/or exceed my goals.
Fellow Villagers, I must point out as was the case when I recently received my COVID shot the Doctor reminded me to keep my fluid levels up so should you see me around any of the local watering holes, this is to avoid dehydration and of course supporting local business.
I am greatly appreciative of Steve and Claire Holmes, and the initiative they have shown in creating Destination Main Beach which showcases our Village and what we have at our doorstep. Living in Main Beach is so easy, it’s a short walk to just about everything one needs and we have the transport options by water with the Hopo Ferry or the G-Link light rail.
Our future Main Beach inspires me
The future for Main Beach looks exciting with the proposed development of the space from the Southport Yacht Club out to the Spit. I recommend a visit to the Spit as we now have a shared cycle and walking pathway from Sea World to the ocean inlet, the new Seaway Promenade is now open and the area has had extensive landscaping completed.
Regards Ian
Ps Take a look at young Dobbelaar and his blossoming Golf career – he has just won in Atlanta – the first-ever Aussie to do it.
