Steve Holmes

Greetings to my fellow villagers, here is my quick intro –
My name is Steve, I am originally from Waikanae Beach, a little beachside town 50km’s north of Wellington New Zealand. I am married to Claire and have two children, Georgia and Zach. We moved to Main Beach on the Gold Coast of Queensland Australia in 2005.

I would describe myself as an Active Lifestyler which means running, walking and cycling are infused into my work, friendship, and social activities. It’s a great way to remain relevant and maximise the opportunity called life, you can view my personal story @ steveholmes.net.au

Lets dive deeper

Work and lifestyle infused into one purpose

Past, Present, and future.

Past:
My past working life has been dominated by commercial property development and investment for our family trust up until 2012, when I was challenged with a succession of health issues.

Present:
Health challenges overwhelm and consume you, they are a big shock to your foundations. They will also evolve you forward if you are open and willing to it, but of course, that is most definitely easier said than done. As a distraction, I began dabbling in the benefits of “Online villager Environments.” The Dabbling became more serious as I regained my health and focused on developing out what worked. This also allowed me to work remotely from my bed, couch, and now home office. “Online Villager Environments” are dynamic smart ecosystems, of “knowledge, experiences, wisdom, and Informational Resources.” What I do, is pull all the good stuff to a visible and more easily accessed centre, the nucleus of any ecosystem.

Future:
Developing an “Online Villager Environment” is a process that is a lot like “the mind leading the body.” with the “Online” being the “mind” component. “What we create within us, will seek its outward expression and reality, if we remain open and willing to it.”

I cut my online teeth by herding cats or should I say Cyclists – my very first attempt at online community building.

Cycling has been a big focus in my life and as a result, I have developed and managed cycleevents.com and ridegoldcoast.com these have both been great segways into gaining valuable online community experience. I then moved into developing more structured environments –

Destination Main Beach.Previous names Hello Main Beach & Tedder Village. A modern-day Villager environment. This began as a distraction from health issues that has turned into a full time (ish) commitment. It is intended that this will become a template and model that will transition any community to its fullest potential. There is a little more to this story … read more
