Main Beach’s Villager Community Model: A Blueprint for the Future of Gold Coast Communities

As Main Beach continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, our Villager-styled community model adapts to meet the challenges that arise. With urbanization and population growth on the rise, it is more important than ever to foster a sense of connection and belonging among our community members. However, Main Beach’s Villager-styled Community model continues to shine even in the face of potential negative impacts caused by urbanization. We are in a sense forging out a “Future Gold Coast Community,” that I believe will be admired and emulated by other communities with the Gold Coast.

The role of ‘The Villager’ our monthly Main Beach email magazine has also evolved to keep pace with the changes. It has become a bigger challenge to keep our Villager-styled values, visions, and aspirations relevant in a larger more dense population environment. Nevertheless, ‘The Villager’ has continued to become an important link, not only centralising all the good things that are happening in Main Beach but also acting as an essential conduit to our expert contributors, whose passion for our community is remarkable. This I believe sets us apart from other Gold Coast communities struggling with similar issues.

The Villager and its revolving panel of contributors carry forward the best of our past and infuse it into the current pace of change. We all share the responsibility of being guardians of Main Beach’s past, present, and future.

As a Villager-styled community, we are able to extract and enhance social value from the current pace of change. ‘Destination Main Beach’, ‘The Villager’, and ‘The Villagers Club’ are all working hard to create more opportunities for Villagers to be involved. By working together, we are continually innovating, supporting, and creating a stronger and more connected community. Our motto to this end is pretty simple: “Be open, be willing, and be consistent at it.”

If you want our genuine villager community to remain a reality rather than an ideal, a place where almost everyone knows your name and our values are truly aligned and connected, then pitch in and join us.
