We are new to Main Beach (2 months in,) we moved here from Brookwater in Brisbane, to become the “
Resident Managers” at Main Beach Tower. We were drawn to Main Beach for a number of reasons, notwithstanding the Village atmosphere and sense of community as well as the beach and of course Tedder Ave!

We left a tight-knit golf community at Brookwater, Brisbane, and were nervous that the lovely Community feel would be hard to replicate. Delighted to learn Main Beach is more than a Village, it’s a wonderful community and a fantastic place to live. Our 21-year-old daughter, Sianna, is also loving the Main Beach life, and we couldn’t be happier. Our son Louis remains in Brookwater due to his golf training but gets down as often as possible. We are blessed to be in a fantastic building with amazing residents who have made us feel extremely welcome and it’s most definitely home:)

Life is good at Main Beach.

Ian Thompson “dobbs in” the young Dobbelaar!
Every story has to start somewhere, and in this case, this story began with “The Villagers” number one fan – Ian Thompson.

Thank you, Ian, for bringing this story to life, and introducing a wonderful family as new villagers here in Main Beach.

Historic victory for Louis

The Brisbane Golf Club’s Louis Dobbelaar has created history by becoming the first reigning Club Champion to win the Australian Amateur.

The 19-year-old, who shares membership with BGC, Brookwater, and Royal Wellington (NZ), came from five shots behind at Adelaide’s Kooyonga Golf Club on Friday to win by two. He was the only player in the field to shoot four-under-par rounds – 69/71/68/70, for a 10-under 278.

Louis won The Brisbane Golf Club Championship in July last year in a high-quality and gripping match-play final, prevailing 5&3 over QAS teammate Lawry Flynn in the 36-hole final. The exceptional standard of golf played by the youngsters was exemplified by the fact Louis was 12-under the card when the match ended after 33 holes.

And although Friday’s final round of the Australian Amateur may not have produced such a runaway win, the drama was high octane.

South Australia pin-up boy Jack Thompson, who was runner-up in last year’s Queensland Open, started the final day with a five-shot lead and a big local gallery of expectant fans. But Thompson, playing with Louis, started with three successive bogeys while the new Champion remained steady with pars, one of which was a four-meter downhiller for a sand save at the fourth.

“That was a really important putt in the context of the round, but also an important putt for my confidence,” he said.

“And so was the clutch putt for par at 14 after I had shot my first a couple of meters past the hole.”
